Sustainability
We are unwavering in our commitment to sustainability, integrating green technologies into every aspect of our operations.
Decorative chart. It shows a passage plan crossing the Bay of Biscay, passing the Dover Strait and running north-east through the North Sea emission control area to an EU port call. That is the voyage GreenETS reports on. No information here is missing from the text below.
We are naval architects, engineers and environmentalists. We handle the reporting a fleet owes each year, and the fuel it burns getting there.
Greenships is an Estonian company working on the emissions side of commercial shipping. We do two things. We build and run GreenETS, the platform a fleet uses to turn its daily voyage reports into verified submissions. And we design retrofits that cut the fuel a ship burns, then see them through installation on vessels already in service.
Most of our work starts with a technical manager who has four reporting regimes landing in the same year and one set of voyage data to answer them all with. EU MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime and IMO DCS each want the same numbers in a different shape, on a different deadline. We take that off their desk.
We would rather be judged on what a fleet can check. Three of our retrofit projects are on this site with the reduction each one is projected to deliver. The reporting side is easier still. Either the submission reconciles and goes in on time, or it does not.
Our values are innovation, sustainability, collaboration and responsibility. Each one means something specific here. Innovation is the retrofit nobody had proposed for that hull. Sustainability is a figure on a verified report rather than a claim on a website. Collaboration is a classification society putting its name to a design. Responsibility is telling a client when a number is a projection and not a measurement.
We are naval architects, engineers and environmentalists. The engineering side and the reporting side are the same problem seen from two ends, so the people who work on one tend to understand the other.
We envision a world where commercial vessels not only transport goods efficiently but do so with the utmost respect for our planet.
Our vision extends beyond the horizon, charting a course where innovation in maritime technology aligns seamlessly with eco-friendly practices.
Our mission is to design, build, and operate commercial vessels that set new standards in sustainability.
We strive to reduce carbon footprints, minimize environmental impact, and inspire a shift towards responsible shipping practices worldwide.
Through continuous innovation and collaboration, we aim to be leaders in the evolution of the shipping industry towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.
We are unwavering in our commitment to sustainability, integrating green technologies into every aspect of our operations.
We operate with transparency, honesty, and ethical practices, ensuring accountability in all our endeavors.
We embrace innovation as a driving force, constantly seeking and implementing cutting-edge solutions to reduce our ecological footprint.
We believe in the power of collaboration, fostering partnerships with industry experts, environmental organizations, and like-minded businesses.
We work as part of a global community rather than apart from it. We engage with local communities and stakeholders, and contribute to the well-being of the regions we operate in.
The full service list has its own page. It covers EU MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, IMO DCS and CII.
What we do →A fleet's year runs on the same handful of documents. Departure, noon, arrival and anchor reports come off the bridge. Bunker delivery notes come off the barge. From those, four separate regimes each want a different calculation.
GreenETS does those calculations and produces what each regime asks for. EU MRV and EU ETS reports, the FuelEU compliance balance and penalty exposure, IMO DCS fuel figures, and the attained and required CII with its A to E rating. What comes out is the file you submit, not a dashboard you have to copy numbers from.
Alongside that we run the engineering side. Hull and propulsion retrofits, designed and installed on vessels in service, with the projected reduction stated before the work starts.
At Greenships, our approach to sustainable shipping is rooted in a holistic strategy that encompasses every aspect of vessel design, operation, and industry engagement. Our commitment to reducing carbon footprints and promoting eco-friendly practices is embodied in the following key initiatives.
01
Our journey begins with cutting-edge vessel design. We integrate the latest technologies, materials, and construction practices to create vessels that prioritize energy efficiency and environmental responsibility from the ground up.
02
We invest in advanced propulsion systems that optimize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions during operation. Additionally, we harness renewable energy sources such as solar and wind to supplement traditional propulsion systems, further lowering our vessels' carbon footprint.
03
Recognizing the importance of existing vessels in global trade, we offer retrofitting services. This involves upgrading older vessels with the latest green technologies, extending their lifecycle and enhancing overall efficiency.
04
Transparency is at the core of our operations. We implement robust monitoring systems to track and report the carbon emissions of our fleet. This data-driven approach allows us to continuously improve and be accountable for our environmental impact.
05
Our commitment extends beyond technology to people. We provide specialized training programs for ship crews, ensuring they are equipped to operate vessels in accordance with environmentally responsible practices. We also engage in community outreach and educational programs to raise awareness about sustainable shipping practices.
06
We actively engage in collaborative research initiatives with industry experts, environmental scientists, and technology innovators. This commitment to ongoing research allows us to stay at the forefront of sustainable maritime technology.
07
Recognizing the importance of a supportive regulatory environment, we advocate for policy changes and industry standards that promote sustainable shipping practices globally. Our engagement extends to partnerships with governmental bodies and environmental organizations.
08
Implementing zero-waste initiatives throughout our operations, we focus on waste reduction, recycling, and responsible disposal practices. We also invest in adaptive energy storage solutions, such as advanced battery technologies, to store and optimize the use of energy on board.
09
We actively collaborate with environmental NGOs, participate in global conservation efforts, and contribute to projects aimed at preserving marine ecosystems. Our goal is to be an active participant in global initiatives that address climate change and environmental preservation.
10
We understand the importance of leading by example. Through public awareness campaigns and industry leadership, we aim to inspire other shipping companies, businesses, and policymakers to embrace sustainable practices. By setting high standards, we encourage positive change across the maritime industry.
At Greenships, our comprehensive and proactive approach ensures that sustainability is not just a goal but an integral part of our identity. By consistently innovating, collaborating, and advocating for change, we aim to be leaders in shaping a future where responsible shipping is the norm, leaving a lasting positive impact on our planet.
