Preparation of SEEMP PART II

Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP Part II)
Part II – Data Collection Plan

At Green Ships, we are committed to staying at the forefront of regulatory compliance in the maritime industry. In line with amendments to MARPOL Annex VI adopted in 2016, ships with a gross tonnage of 5,000 and above engaged in international voyages are required to collect and report their fuel oil consumption data from the year 2019, a regulation known as the IMO Data Collection System (IMO DCS).

Ships subject to the IMO DCS are mandated to develop a Ship Fuel Oil Consumption Data Collection Plan, known as SEEMP Part II. This plan must be confirmed by the Administration or a Recognized Organization (RO). At Green Ships, we take pride in our role as industry leaders in preparing SEEMP Part II for our clients.

Our dedicated team of experts collaborates closely with shipowners to develop comprehensive and compliant SEEMP Part II documentation. We ensure that the plan addresses the specific fuel oil consumption data collection requirements outlined in the IMO DCS regulations.

Choosing Green Ships means choosing a partner dedicated to navigating the complexities of IMO DCS compliance seamlessly. We guide our clients through the process of developing, confirming, and implementing SEEMP Part II, ensuring that their vessels meet the regulatory standards set by MARPOL Annex VI amendments.

As we pave the way for a greener and more sustainable maritime industry, Green Ships invites shipowners to join us in meeting and exceeding regulatory expectations. Our commitment to excellence extends to every aspect of environmental responsibility, and we look forward to assisting you on your journey towards IMO DCS compliance.

Green Ships takes pride in preparing our clients for this regulatory landscape, ensuring that their vessels are not only compliant but also equipped to continually improve operational energy efficiency.

By choosing Green Ships, shipowners partner with a team dedicated to navigating the complexities of SEEMP Part III, achieving CII improvement, and contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious maritime industry.

Preparation of EEDI Technical File

Energy Efficiency Design Index

Green Ships is at the forefront of ensuring compliance with the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) regulations, a critical component in the effort to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of ships. The amendments to MARPOL Annex VI, adopted at the 62nd session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 62) in July 2011, made the regulation of EEDI and Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) mandatory, entering into force on 1 January 2013.

The EEDI regulation applies to ships of 400 gross tonnage and above engaged in international voyages (excluding platforms, drilling rigs, and non-mechanically propelled vessels like barges). An International Energy Efficiency (IEE) Certificate is issued for ships complying with the regulation, verified through initial surveys for new ships or during the first intermediate or renewal survey of the International Air Pollution Prevention (IAPP) Certificate for existing ships, on or after 1 January 2013.

Notwithstanding the above, the EEDI regulation is specifically applicable to new ships falling into categories designated by the Convention. Green Ships takes pride in its role as a leading provider in the preparation of EEDI Technical Files for clients, leveraging our dedicated professional software powered by Artificial Intelligence.

We meticulously consider all operational matrices for each type of vessel to ensure accurate and comprehensive EEDI Technical Files. By choosing Green Ships, shipowners benefit from our commitment to compliance, innovative technologies, and a proactive approach to meeting and exceeding regulatory standards. Our goal is to empower our clients to navigate the evolving maritime landscape while optimizing energy efficiency and contributing to a sustainable and environmentally conscious industry.

Preparation of EEXI Technical File

Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index

Introduced by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the EEXI is a crucial measure aimed at enhancing the technical design of ships to minimize environmental impact.

Ships falling under the EEXI regulation must attain EEXI approval by the first periodical survey in 2023 at the latest. The required EEXI value is determined based on the ship type, capacity, and principle of propulsion, representing the maximum acceptable attained EEXI value.

At Green Ships, we go beyond standard compliance by leveraging our dedicated professional software powered by Artificial Intelligence. This cutting-edge technology enables us to calculate the attained EEXI for individual ships, considering all operational matrices and ship types. Our comprehensive approach ensures that the EEXI Technical File we prepare aligns seamlessly with the specific requirements of each vessel.

We understand that EEXI compliance is not only a regulatory obligation but a commitment to sustainable maritime practices. By choosing Green Ships, shipowners benefit from our expertise, innovative technologies, and a proactive approach to achieving and surpassing EEXI requirements. Our goal is to assist our clients in navigating the regulatory landscape while optimizing energy efficiency and contributing to a greener and more environmentally conscious maritime industry.

Adherence to EU MRV and EU ETS Standards, Compliance

As of July 14, 2021, the European Commission has taken significant strides towards achieving climate neutrality in the EU by 2050. This includes an ambitious intermediate target of at least a 55% net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The legislative proposals put forth by the Commission outline a comprehensive strategy, revising key EU climate legislation, and aligning with the European Green Deal.

Crucial to the success of this strategy is the robust monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, particularly within the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). Green Ships recognizes the importance of compliance with these standards and has implemented a meticulous process to ensure adherence to the EU MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) and EU ETS requirements.

The annual compliance cycle, encompassing monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV), is a cornerstone of the EU ETS. Industrial installations and aircraft operators covered by the EU ETS are mandated to have an approved monitoring plan for reporting annual emissions. This plan, an integral part of the permit to operate for industrial installations, ensures transparency and accuracy in emissions reporting.

On an annual basis, operators submit emissions reports, which are then verified by accredited verifiers. This verification process is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the EU ETS. Green Ships, recognizing the importance of timely and accurate data, employs a dedicated AI-powered application for data collection. This application ensures that every correction is made promptly to achieve the most accurate results on the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).

Green Ships not only fulfills regulatory obligations under the Monitoring and Reporting Regulation (MRR) and Accreditation and Verification Regulation (AVR) but goes beyond, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in environmental stewardship. The use of AI technology adds an extra layer of precision to the compliance process, aligning with the European Commission's vision for a transparent, consistent, and accurate greenhouse gas emissions reporting system.

The commitment to adherence is further underscored by the proactive approach to provide guidance, exemplars, and tools to ensure a harmonized and cost-effective application throughout all EU ETS countries. Green Ships stands as a beacon of compliance, utilizing technology to navigate the complex landscape of EU MRV and EU ETS, contributing to the broader goals of the European Green Deal.

Furthermore, in the face of penalties for excessive emissions, Green Ships prioritizes accurate reporting to avoid penalties and maintain a commitment to sustainability. The penalty for non-compliance serves as an additional incentive for operators to adhere strictly to the EU MRV and EU ETS standards.

In summary, Green Ships, through its dedication to precision, transparency, and technological innovation, plays a vital role in ensuring the success of the EU's climate targets. By collecting client vessels' data with its AI-powered application, Green Ships contributes to the overall effectiveness of the EU MRV and EU ETS, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability in the maritime industry.
